Rhosyn Celyn is a Welsh artist and photographer, based in Éire. She is self taught and continues to increase and improve her skills and craft with photography in more recent years, capturing wildlife in urban and idyllic nature settings.

Her work showcases the increasing wildlife that shares our towns and cities as they are pushed from habitats. She especially loves to photograph pigeons of all types, but especially those in urban settings, who are often injured by hostile architecture.

“Artist statement”

My work showcases the beauty, and grace, in all wildlife. From exotic and colourful, to common and overlooked. We often forget and ignore the wildlife that surrounds us every day. We often opt to appreciate more palatable creatures; failing to see the beauty in wildlife we share our towns and cities with.

My hope is to show people many different kinds of wildlife, both in idyllic nature and also in our urban sprawls. We don’t like to believe we cause harm around us but miss the effects of hostile architecture and waste. We’ve forgotten that we live in symbiosis with the wildlife we scorn and have detached ourselves.

My aim is to give people an opportunity to connect with our wildlife, and to see their interactions through behaviour and anthropomorphised emotions in their captured poses.
